On Wednesday, March 27, 2013 the Baltimore Washington
Corridor Chamber (BWCC) will continue its Contracting Information Series at the
bwtech@UMBC Research Park (5520 Research Park Drive, Baltimore, MD 21228) with “Women
in Government Contracting Update.”
There will be four speakers at the event:
Gloria Larkin,
President of TargetGov, will present practical, bottom-line advice to address
major recent changes in the marketplace and accelerate business success in the
federal government market for experienced as well as newcomers to the world’s “Fortune
One” customer.
Ellen Hemmerly,
Director of bwtech@UMBC, will focus on how the Cyber Incubator helps cyber-focused
businesses get started and gain a foothold in a very competitive marketplace.
Cyber security has surpassed terrorism as the main concern of American business
people.
Tonia R. McCoy, with
the Small Business Administration’s (SBA) Baltimore District, will describe
various programs for small business, such as Women Owned Small Business (WOSB)
and Economically Disadvantaged Women Owned Small Business (EDWOSB) – how they
are created and managed by SBA – and how to participate in them.
Ann Sullivan,
Women Impacting Public Policy (WIPP) Government Relations, will present an
insider’s view of what it took to get the actual WOSB Program law enacted, what
WIPP is and how it grew from a handful of business women to an organization representing
over one million business women nationwide.
There will also be a panel of three successful business
owning women who have built multi-million dollar businesses. The panel consists
of Janet Amirault, CEO of Software Consortium, April Wennerberg of ProjectMasters, Inc., and Anthie Zairis, President of Group Z, Inc. Gloria Larkin will
moderate the panel. They will feature individual success stories and follow-up
with a Q&A Session.
