“Women in Government Contracting Update” as Part of the BWCC Contracting Information Series

On Wednesday, March 27, 2013 the Baltimore Washington Corridor Chamber (BWCC) will continue its Contracting Information Series at the bwtech@UMBC Research Park (5520 Research Park Drive, Baltimore, MD 21228) with “Women in Government Contracting Update.”

There will be four speakers at the event:

Gloria Larkin, President of TargetGov, will present practical, bottom-line advice to address major recent changes in the marketplace and accelerate business success in the federal government market for experienced as well as newcomers to the world’s “Fortune One” customer.

Ellen Hemmerly, Director of bwtech@UMBC, will focus on how the Cyber Incubator helps cyber-focused businesses get started and gain a foothold in a very competitive marketplace. Cyber security has surpassed terrorism as the main concern of American business people.

Tonia R. McCoy, with the Small Business Administration’s (SBA) Baltimore District, will describe various programs for small business, such as Women Owned Small Business (WOSB) and Economically Disadvantaged Women Owned Small Business (EDWOSB) – how they are created and managed by SBA – and how to participate in them.

Ann Sullivan, Women Impacting Public Policy (WIPP) Government Relations, will present an insider’s view of what it took to get the actual WOSB Program law enacted, what WIPP is and how it grew from a handful of business women to an organization representing over one million business women nationwide.

There will also be a panel of three successful business owning women who have built multi-million dollar businesses. The panel consists of Janet Amirault, CEO of Software Consortium, April Wennerberg of ProjectMasters, Inc., and Anthie Zairis, President of Group Z, Inc. Gloria Larkin will moderate the panel. They will feature individual success stories and follow-up with a Q&A Session.
